WORK WEEK DAY 3

(vintage blouse, zara pants, way old chanel flats)

We've made it to Wednesday, that point in which you still have as much work ahead of you as you've already completed. Wednesdays seem to a be unoffical "casual" day. So today I wore slacks and rolled up the ankles juuuust a little to make it feel less profesh, and left my blouse untucked because FREEDOM, MAN. It's not a bad idea to have a mini stockpile of blouses that are short enough that they don't need to be tucked in, for when you feel like LETTING LOOSE and BEING CHILL. Slacks and ballet flats are definitely not something that I wear on regs outside of the office, but I firmly believe that I am still myself when I wear them! Work clothes are an exercise in compartmentalization. Turn it on from 9 -5, SHUT IT DOWN immediately at 5:01pm!

I'm sorry if I sound nosy, but what do you do for a living? Knowing only you by your outfits and online facet I can't really imagine what you do. I'm a new reader and I thought you were a photographer for some reason (?)

This is awesome, documenting your work outfits. I'd like to do something like that in the future.. except for now, my work outfit is a very ugly uniform, so.. not much to show. I can see how all these outfits are different but still definitely very you :)

I get really dramatic and emotional when i feel like i'm not allowed to dress like myself, but i think what you said about compartmentalization is really important! even though dressing is really important and expressive, selfhood is more than our physicality and we are just as much ourselves in ballet flats and slacks. -m
