(rachel comey dress and coat, spanx tights, alexander wang shoes you can't see)
As a rule I try to keep my outfit posts to a single photo because really, the world doesn't need a gratuitous photos of my outfits, and certainly no more than a single image at any given time. But I felt inordinately creatively inspired last night after going to Shimmer at Late Bar, the premier shoegaze night whose virtues I have glowingly extolled before. Shoegaze gives me a path by which I can stagger through my days, a mechanism to feel any sort of connection to my world, an apparatus to construct my vision of my cherry-colored life. Shoegaze means a lot to me. Through its murky sound and steller dissonance, I draw more honest inspiration from it than anything else that may fill my heart.
Wore lotsa Rachel Comey last night, in my dress and my coat, and I think her clothes personify shoegaze in a way that I really relate to - her prints are hazy yet linear, dreamy yet sentient, and look like waves of stridulous sound.
Buttons are Screen Vinyl Image and Experimental Aircraft. Do yourself a favor and listen to these bands. You will like them.
Going to shoegaze night at Late Bar for me, is going home. As stupid as it sounds I'm happiest when I'm listening to blissrock while enveloped in nebulous light.
