i dish it out but i can't take it either

So I went to NYC last Thursday, just for day...and got to shop at the Rodarte sample sale while I was there. I have to say, it was slightly more than slightly overwhelming to be surrounded by so much Rodarte! Racks of meticulously crafted dresses that may as well exist in dreams and a bay window covered in Spring 2011 gold vase wedges. The staff was super friendly and not pretentious at all. Needless to say, I took serious advantage of the rock-bottom prices and scored some mindblowing deals on ethereal black things.

If for some reason you are actually interested in what I purchased, I made this little materialistic video where I turn into a complete banal cliche' of everything I hate about fashion and say "really really" and "weird" a lot. Forgive me! Oh well, it's time like this when Lush's "Hypocrite" feels especially applicable.

I am soooo jealous. Rodarte is one of my favorties. They always make the most ridiculously beautiful things... I can't wait to see your shoes light up!

Dying over this! I gasped when you held up the black party dress. I just saw and felt that dress at Barney's this past week. Amazing. And the black and blue cardigan. Ohmygod. So happy for you!

You don't have to justify loving beautiful things, Meagan :)

this video is so cute! you're not consumeristic about it, you're not just trying to collect all the rodarte—there's nothing wrong with purchasing & enjoying lovely things that you'll have for years to come, and there's nothing wrong with sharing those things with people who have similar interests. <3

also dem shoez

Firstly, wow, you have a really nice voice. Sounds kind of evil, but a lot of American accents annoy the hell out of me. Yours is quite nice.

Secondly, dude, whatever, fashion wouldn't really exist without consumerism so you can't really avoid it completely when discussing fashion.

I know you're against it, (the whole crazy consumeristic culture of western society) so am I, with good reason of course. But at the end of the day, I think you're allowed to get excited about a few amazing purchases sometimes, without feeling too guilty :)

I really like the bag, it's unbelievable, and the leather jacket. Really nice too, although I don't like cropped jackets. Oh, the dress that's leather at the top. The detail was great! Ah, to own designer items. You are lucky.

This post must have really inspired me because when I was at Opening Ceremony this week, I HAD to buy a Rodarte sweater. It's one of with mixed yards- some thick and dreadlocky and some that are thin like a spider web in black, brown, grey, and gold. Have you worn your sweater yet?

I loved your video and ALL your purchases. I wish Rodarte had a sample sample here in the UK, the closest I got to was the Nicholas Kirkwood sample sale a few days ago. They had Rodarte shoes from a couple of seasons; the ones that you got and the incredible carved wood ones, but they were £500! Kind of an ok deal considering they were on sale for £1500 but still not in my budget.

I hope you share more of your sample sale steals in the future xx

Are the candle wax heels true to size? I have my eye on a pair but they are not my exact size. Do they run big or small?

meagan said...

@jodache they are true to size and I do NOT recommend getting them unless they are your exact size. the leather straps in front rely on a certain amount of tension to keep the toes in place and i imagine it would be extremely uncomfortable if the size was even just a little off...

Thanks for that. I will take your advice.
